Adult: Species descriptions based on Taylor (1952, 1969). Caecilia volcani is not a large caecilian, reaching lengths up to 324 mm. Dorsal: This caecilian is slately gray in color, with some lighter coloration around the mouth, eyes, and nostrils. Eye: The eyes are visible and slightly raised from the surface of the head. A small tentacle is present below the nose.
Ecology: Specimens were collected from soft mud in a swampy area near El Valle de Anton (Taylor 1969). Type locality: El Valle de Antón, Coclé, Panamá (elev. 550 m)
