Habitat: Evergreen forests at lowland to mid elevations. Distribution: Mexico, Costra Rica, Panama, to Argentina, Uruguay, also Trinidad and Tobago. Begin foraging early, in dense forests or manmade clearings. Eats small insects. Reproduction not well known. Characteristics: Forearm 39-48, wgt.7-14 gms. ÂUpperparts orange-brown to blackish, underparts orangish or buffy brown; base of hairs black. Fur long (7-9 mm) and silky. Ears triangular; tragus usually held curved forward. Facial skin pinkish brown, membranes black. Sides of muzzle slightly inflated. Tail long, extends to tip of tail membrane (Reid, 1997, p. 155)Â
