Habitat: Tropical forests, also on the coasts can be found in mangroves and tropical almond trees. Distribution: Central and South America from Nicaragua to Peru and central Brazil. Characteristics: Hoffmann's Two-toed sloth is slightly larger than the three-toed sloths, cream-brown colored with a dark snout. It is an omnivore that feeds on leaves, fruits, eggs, insects and occasionally small vertebrates. It is mostly nocturnal, and studies based on sloths in captivity have shown that they sleep from 18 to 20 hours a day. However, other studies have shown that sloths in the wild sleep approximately 9 hours.
