Habitat: This Vireo species can be commonly found in forests and woodland canopy and forest borders and clearings, in the highlands. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in North America and migrate south in the Amazon basin of South America. Natural History Notes: The Red-eyed Vireo is one of the most transient birds in Panama and will usually be present in huge groups. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a latitudinal migratory species. Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 14 cm and 15.9 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a red iris that we can distinguish only when very closed to the bird. The plumage above is olive green with a gray crown and a white stripe above the eye. This white stripe is bordered above by a black line and bordered below by a gray stripe. Then, the plumage below is whitish with some yellow coloration on the flanks and on the under tail-coverts.
