Habitat: This Tyrannulet species can be commonly found along streams and rivers in foothills and highlands of western Panama. Distribution: This species has been reported from Costa Rica and western Panama; Colombia and northwestern Venezuela to northern Bolivia. Natural History Notes: The Torrent Tyrannulet is usually found perched on a rock in the middle of the torrent of a stream or a river Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a total length of 4 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a plumage mostly gray above, with a whiter coloration below. We can distinguish a black crown with a small white patch on the crown as well. The wings and the tail are blackish.
