Habitat: This warbler species will favor mangroves and shrubbery and trees near water sources. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in eastern United States and migrate south from southern Mexico to northern Colombia and Venezuela. Natural History Notes: This species can be usually found in groups, especially during migration. The common name for this species comes from the officials in the Roman Catholic Church that were known as the "protonotarii" and that were wearing golden robes. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a latitudinal migratory species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 13.3 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The male is characterized by a bright yellow coloration on the head and the underparts. Then, the back is olive colored and the wings and the tail show a gray coloration. In addition, the tail shows a white patch on the inner web (we can see it in flight). Then, the belly and the under tail-coverts are white. The female looks similar but the overall plumage is duller and the head has some olive coloration.
