Habitat: This species prefers humid lowlands habitats. Distribution: This species has been reported from Southern Mexico to Amazonian and coastal Brazil. Natural History Notes: Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC) Characteristics: This species has a total length of 12.70 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). Its coloration is mostly black but it has a white collar around the hindneck, which connects with a white throat and chest. It has a very long fork-shaped tail. An interesting characteristic is that the nest of Panyptila cayennensis is used for both reproduction and roosting. You may find them flying at high altitudes, alone or in pairs.
