Habitat: The gray-headed dove is usually found in forests and second-growth woodland in the coastal lowland of Bocas del Toro, Panama. Distribution: This species was reported from eastern Mexico to western Panama and western Colombia. Natural History Notes: This species is found only in western part of Panama. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 10 inches and 11 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The part above is olive-brown with a crown and the hindneck blue-gray. The skin near the eyes is red and gray. The part below is pinkish white and the belly is white. The tail is cream colored with the outer feathers tipped white.
