Habitat: This Oriole species will favor forested rivers and woodland in forest borders and clearings, or even banana plantations. In Panama, it is found only in the lowlands of Bocas del Toro. Distribution: This species has been reported from southeastern Mexico to Caribbean western Panama and the Greater Antilles and some parts of the Bahamas. Natural History Notes: Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 19 cm and 20 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has the plumage mostly black, including the tail, which contrasts with the yellow colored rump, breast, belly and wing-coverts. Also, we can distinguish a small chestnut patch between the black chest and the yellow breast.
