Habitat: This species is present in clearings and forest borders. Distribution: This species has been reported from Southern Mexico to Bolivia and central Brazil. Natural History Notes: Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 11.43 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). Its beak is small (1.90 cm), straight and black. This bird has the head and the chest bright blue with a noticeable white crescent on the hindneck. The above is green but the belly, breast and tail are white. The female is also green on the above and the lower parts are white. The tail is dark green but presents a white tip and subterminal band.
