Habitat: This Wren species can be found in undergrowth near streams and roadsides through forest and clearings in the humid lowlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from Nicaragua to western Ecuador. Natural History Notes: Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: This species has a total lengh of 14 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a bright chestnut plumage above with a black crown and a black nape. We can also distinguish some white spots on the ear-coverts and stripes of black and white on the sides of the head. The wings are and the tail barred chestnut and black. The birds reported from Bocas del Toro have a white throat and the underparts tawny red with some black lines on the sides of the body and along the flanks.
