Habitat: This Parakeet species can be commonly found in forests, woodland borders and clearings, in the lowlands of western Panama. Distribution: This species has been reported from Nicaragua to western Panama. Natural History Notes: The Crimson-fronted Parakeet is fairly noisy and you can hear its call composed of loud notes like "keerr, keerr", mostly heard while the bird is flying. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 28 cm and 30.5 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a beige bill in the shape of a horn and a dark iris. The bare skin area around the eye is white. The plumage is mostly green, with a characteristic red forecrown and the red under wing-coverts. The wing-coverts are bordered behind by the yellow greater coverts. Then, the underside of the flight feathers and the tail are yellow-olive.
